It was a good thing we didn’t try to walk on to campsite #8 the night before, as I had initially planned, because as we saw on the 3-mile uphill road walk that morning, every site but #2 was taken—vehicles parked out front, multi-structure tent compounds in the back. Camping with two-burner Coleman stoves, folding chairs, maybe beer: what luxury.
