Why subscribe?

Pinch of Dirt is a newsletter about nature, outdoor adventure, and the environment.

Who writes Pinch of Dirt? I do! I am a journalist, an enthusiastic hiker and backpacker, and an urban gardener.

Why? I started this newsletter in 2017 to share the best nature, travel, and adventure writing I found on the internet, and to try my hand at crafting some of my own.

How often do you publish? Weekly, unless other work or travel obligations prevent me.

What will I get? A special blend of essay, commentary, and reading list.

Where did you get your cool logo? I snagged the image from the public domain. It originally appeared in a book titled “The Gardener’s Assistant: A Practical and Scientific Exposition of the Art of Gardening in all its Branches.”

How much does a subscription cost? The newsletter is free, but the online archives are going behind a paywall starting November 15, 2019. Becoming a paid subscriber gives you access to previous posts, and helps support my writing here and elsewhere.

How else can I show my support? Share with your friends and encourage them to subscribe!

What do readers say about it?

Reader Paul:

Your newsletter is fantastic; every time it hits my inbox I get giddy at the prospect of taking a ten minute break from work and reading my way through a mini-outdoor adventure. Keep up the good work!
